Kodama selects Koi at Igarashi Koi

One day last Spring, I was standing at the entrance of
Niigata for the project of Omakase - Kodama's
Choice.
Omakase - Kodama's Choice- is another
method of introducing the beauty of Japanese Koi to the
USA. How can we offer quality Japanese Koi to more people for
a more affordable price? Omakase is one of our answers.
I went to each breeder and explained that I would like
to introduce his Koi to US hobbyists. Many breeders agreed to
offer a special price for the limited quantity of their Koi.

Japanese Koi should be more easily available and affordable
anywhere you go. The beauty of Japanese Koi was created in
Japan but they deserve the appreciation of the people from all
over the world.
About 6 years ago, Taro and I were
shocked when we visited one of our dealer customers (At the
time we were still in Japan and exporting Koi to dealers.) We
were surprised to see how unreasonably priced they were,
and most importantly, the
incorrect information on Koi that was being
distributed. As a Japanese Koi dealer, we had to do
something. This is why we published Kokugyo Vol.1 and Kokugyo
Vol.2. We also founded the company, Japan Koi Online, with
operations in California.

With Omakase - Kodama's Choice-, I know customers are not
able to see the pattern of the Koi that they will receive, but
you know they are from our select breeders in Niigata,
JAPAN. In the US, you do not have as many
opportunities to get Koi from excellent breeders as
they do in Japan. I hope this project will make the
beauty of Japanese Koi more available here in the US.
Working with breeders in Niigata for many years, I
understand spreading the beauty all over the world is also
their dream. But they are very busy trying to always improve
the beauty of their Koi and they have little time to
deliver their Koi outside Japan. So we, the dealers and the
breeders, are like a team. They breed beautiful Koi and we,
the dealers, understand the characteristics of their breeding
beauty and introduce them with correct information.
