Dear Valued Members,

The most exciting time of year for Koi enthusiasts is  just around the corner.  My father has already made 2 trips to Niigata.

I like this country and very much enjoy providing US customers with our beautiful Japanese Koi. However, there are still a few things I miss of Japan.  One of them is that I can no longer go to Niigata as often as I would like.  So October is a very special month for me as well as for our customers.

As we informed you in the last e-newsletter, my father and I will be at the MAKC Koi Show on 10/9-10/10.  We will have 1 session on each day. We both are very excited to see our Koi Friends on the East Coast.  Some of our customers have already called us and said they would be meeting us there. If you are considering going, please do so, we would love to meet with you.

Our service, including auctions will continue while I am in Japan.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 951-672-6700. Our experienced staff will assist you. If you really need to contact me, please feel free to e-mail me at the address down below.

Happy Koi!

Koi with pure Sadazo bloodline
Direct descendant of Sadazo Sank, currently the parental Koi of Genjiro Koi Farm

I have been to Niigata many times over the last 40 years. I feel that I am very familiar with this place. But sometimes, I still have some unforgettable experience in Niigata.

It happened when I visited Genjiro Koi Farm in August. This Koi farm is very old. Mr. Takashi Kobayashi is the current and fourth owner.

I know that he breeds good Sanke with the blood of Sadazo Sanke, but I did not know he uses the purest blood and I never expected to see a direct descendant of Sadazo Sanke.

Mr. Takashi Kobayashi
The fourth owner of Genjiro Koi Farm

Sadazo Sanke is one of the three major bloodlines of Taisho Sanke. It is not exaggerating to say that this line dramatically increased the beauty level of the variety.  When Sadazo Sanke appeared, many breeders were suprised and attracted with the beauty.  They introduced the Sadazo blood to their Koi for even more beautiful Koi. Dainichi Sanke is the most famous and typical example.

Ceder tree by Genjiro Koi Farm.
It is more than 300 years old
Because breeders have crossed the bloodlines, I never thought that the purest blooded Sadazo Sanke still exists.  Historically speaking, this is a very surprising event for the industry.  Unlike other breeders, Mr. Kobayashi succeeds the tradition to preserve the blood of Sadazo Sanke that has contributed to the Taisho Sanke variety so much.

So many breeders, so many ideas. Niigata has more than 600 breeders and I believe this is the most attractive part of this Koi cradle. Everybody sweats and breeds for more beautiful Koi.  Every visit, you will find a surprise.  And this is why I have never become bored with my visits to Niigata.

When you have a chance to come to Japan for business or vacation, please include Niigata on your trip schedule.  I know you will be richer for the experience.
