One of the biggest earthquakes hit Niigata, Japan on October 23, 2004.  Though my father and I barely left from the are right before the quake, almost all the breeders in Niigata are still suffering. Some lost all his stock.  Some still can not go even go home since evacuation because the are is restricted by the government.

 One breeder that I know very well were on evening TV news the other day. In the interview, he said everything but 7 parental Koi.  He was crying. I could not believe my eyes.  

If you have every purchased Koi from our site, or have seen Koi from us, they are 100% from this area. If you have ever purchased Japanese Koi at your local Koi dealers, the chances are they are from Niigata.

There are many helps from the Japan's government for the housing, cloths and food. The insurance may cover the houses and facilites, but they will not cover live animals.  From the govenment nor anybody, there is no supecific support for Nishikigoi breeders who has established the important Japanese heritage over generations.   Breeders and their Koi has help us enjoy the beautiful living jewels and have relaxing and enjoyable moments. Now is the time to help them back. Please help them so that they can come back to provide us even more beautiful Koi and pleasant time. 

A group of people in Japan organized Nishikigoi Protection Network. This is the network specifically to save breeders and their Nishikigoi. There may be various ways to support the breeders, but I strongly believe this is the best and most efficiant way to save the breeders.   

Niigata breeders and Koi need your support.  There are 8 simple things you can do for them.

2. Please tell your Koi friends.

3. Please add the link to your site.

4. Please ask your friend add the link to their sits.

5. Please mention BBS

6. Please share this at the koi club meeting

7. If your Koi club publish the newsletter, please write about the site.
